# Redeeming cashback

> Pay available cashback to one of your accounts or to a recipient.

Redeem any part of an account's `available` cashback. Choose where it goes
with `destination`.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Redeeming requires the legal entity to enforce an IP allowlist, and the
> request to come from an allowlisted IP.

## To one of your accounts

The destination can be the account that earned the cashback or another of
your accounts. A Global USD account only receives its own cashback, and its
cashback can only go back to it.

## To a recipient

Pay cashback to any active [destination](https://docs.slash.com/docs/v2/concepts/recipients-and-destinations.md)
of a recipient. These redemptions are paid by ACH.

## Following a redemption

| `status` | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `pending` | On its way. Redemptions to your accounts usually complete within seconds. |
| `completed` | Paid. |
| `returned` | The recipient's bank sent the ACH back, and the cashback was restored. |
| `failed` | Not paid, and the cashback was restored. |

Redemptions made in Slash to a linked bank account show a `bank_account`
destination.
